The second
generation of Mercedes-Benzs
M-Class
SUV went on sale earlier this year. At first glance it doesnt look much
different, however, theres very little that was carried over from the
previous generation. Longer by 5.9 inches and wider by 2.8 inches, the
2006 M-Class sports a new unibody platform, a double-wishbone
front suspension and a four-link rear suspension. The redesigned
interior emphasizes comfort and user-friendly space. The new M-Class
features the first seven-speed automatic in an SUV, and is
available as either the ML350 or ML500. Also new for 2006 is the beautiful CLS-Class. Referred to as a 4-door coupe by the automaker, the CLS fulfills this moniker with a sleek, arching silhouette accentuated by a roofline and C-pillars that blend into the rear fenders and decklid. The first CLS-Class to arrive in the U.S. is the CLS500, powered by a 302-horsepower 5.0-liter V8 teamed with a 7-speed automatic transmission. Joining the CLS500 is the high-performance CLS55 AMG powered by a supercharged 5.5-liter V8 engine that produces 469 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. Additional Coverage: Mercedes-Benz M-Class |
