Toyota has also announced that its bestselling Camry will be built with a hybrid powertrain starting in late 2006. A complete redesign of the Camry is expected for the 2006 model year; however, details have not been released yet.

The
Highlander Hybrid
is a midsize SUV and will be the world�s first seven-passenger vehicle
with a gas-electric hybrid powertrain. Utilizing the latest version of
Toyota�s
Hybrid Synergy Drive,
the Highlander Hybrid combines a 3.3-liter V6 with a high-output
electric motor driving the front wheels. In four-wheel-drive versions,
an additional electric motor provides power to the rear wheels. Total
output on the 4WD Highlander Hybrid is 268 horsepower, which is
good enough to get this SUV to 60 mph in just over 7 seconds. Fuel
economy for the 4WD is rated at 31 mpg in the city; the 2WD is rated at
33 mpg in the city.
