2- A flanged coupling connects two transmission shafts with pins of diameter 10 mm made of steel EN3, at pitch circle diameter of 150 mm. If the torque of 2400 Nm is applied. Find:

A) The number of pins, taking a factor of safety 6.






B) The maximum stress on the shafts if the shafts diameters are 40 mm.






3- A 0.3 m cantilever of a cross section as shown in the figure is subjected to maximum bending stress of 200 MPa. Find the force acting on the far end of the cantilever, if d = 20 mm.










4- A steel bar ABC 400 mm long and 20 mm in diameter is subjected to forces as shown in the figure, if the value of Young’s modulus for the steel is 200 GPa, determine the deformation.
